TIGERS 60-16 EAGLES

Sheffield Eagles took a 60-16 mauling from Castleford Tigers as they were put out of the Challenge Cup.

An injury-hit Eagles kept battling with fullback Quentin Laulu-Togagae providing a threat coming into the line but they couldn't match the power of the team second in the Super League in the fifth round game at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

Coach Mark Aston was proud of the way his team challenged Castleford particularly in the second half.

Eagles started to feel at home at Owlerton as they put 10 tries without reply past amateurs East Leeds in the third round of the Challenge Cup.

It was the first win back at the stadium but was marred the loss of teenage half-back Cory Aston, son of coach Mark, with a suspected broken collar bone in the second half.

At times the Eagles lacked urgency but they had the extra pace to regularly find gaps and keep the score moving with Misi Taulapapa outstanding and Quentin Laulu-Togagae always a threat.
